With an unwavering passion for aviation and a 31-year long career in law enforcement, I have have been able to merge my fascination with flying machines into a profession that has truly resonated with me. Having dedicated almost half of my career to leading my previous departments manned aviation program, I have had the privilege of witnessing the remarkable evolution of small, unmanned aircraft technology firsthand. This early interest inspired me to become an accomplished drone pilot. I obtained my Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA in 2016. In 2018, I launched my department's unmanned aircraft program, which grew to become the largest law enforcement drone unit in Wisconsin, boasting a team of over twenty FAA-certified drone pilots operating a diverse fleet of unmanned aircraft.
Throughout my tenure in this exciting industry, I recognized the critical need to equip commercial drone pilots with the essential skills, knowledge, and standardized procedures required to execute complex missions safely and effectively. Collaborating closely with aviation industry experts, I spearheaded the development of intensive UAS ground and flight training courses designed specifically for public safety drone pilots. These courses uphold stringent quality standards, ensuring the professional and secure utilization of unmanned aircraft within unified and coordinated team environments. Now, as I embark on this exciting new chapter after retiring from law enforcement, I am thrilled to share the wealth of knowledge, experience, and comprehensive instructional courses that our team at Quantum Leap UAS has to offer.
I am an active full-time member of a state law enforcement agency in Wisconsin, where, in 2019, I helped establish our UAS team and flight program. have held an FAA Part 107 (sUAS) Certificate since 2016 but began flying drones years earlier while in college. I have had an interest in remote controlled aviation since I was young even building flying model aircraft from scratch. My passion for UAS has grown ever since and I really enjoy the photography and cinematography aspect of drone flying. I am very passionate about using UAS as a tool for search and rescue / recovery.
I continue to fly drones both as a hobby and professionally. I have taken a leading role with numerous public safety UAS training classes and continue to train our team of drone pilots. I am a part of a state wide drone deployment team that responds to requests as needed by various law enforcement / first responder agencies. My experience as an unmanned pilot continues to enhance public safety and search and rescue efforts. I am excited to be part of the team at Quantum Leap UAS and I look forward to training other professionals in the ever-expanding technological world of UAS and what it has to offer.
